"There has never been a government that didn't turn on its people." ~MBP
It’s not enough to simply ignore government. You have to neutralize its power before it kills you with it.
A popular uprising is, historically, the most effective tool at subduing that power—one tyrants fear the most—a “show of force” if you will. It is where the term “deposed” comes into play—when a tyrant is driven out of power because he fears a united people he once terrorized. And if individuals form its ranks, is over very quickly.
For no good patriotic man seeks power over others, rather to hold said power “in check” for future generations to be able to thrive. Knowing his country is made safe, he may return about his business until he is needed again. He has no interest in "RULING" anyone.
Magical thinking posits—that if enough people “simply ignore” government(s), they will vanish away into thin air. Hundreds of millions of dead people last century thought the same thing. They were all of them WRONG.
Do not be fooled into thinking that humans are advanced enough to simply "leave you alone." Why the hell would you then ignore these creatures in government(s)? They are predators and should be treated as such, and with extreme caution.
To those who would unite for the purpose of self-bestowing liberties and rights over the kings, popes and governments of the earth—where the individual is king and the tyranny of the collective held firmly in check, there shall be true freedom. Therein shall be found the fertile soil for genius to arise in the hearts of men. There shall be self-determination, dignity, and the genuine pursuit of happiness afforded to the will and desire of every individual man's soul. Where in the reverse, there is abject thralldom, bondage and suffering—driven by the madness of the tyrant and the self-imposed slavitude of the hive-minded mob.
