Reflections on "The Secret of Light"
Introduction to the Upcoming Series
This thread is a primer for those interested in joining me on my personal reflections regarding the seminal work “The Secret of Light,” by Walter Bowman Russell.
I highly recommend prior to watching this multipart series and the many reflections to come on the ‘line-by-line’ reading, that you order “The Secret of Light” for yourself at the following link—ORDER HERE.

Every now and then, and with a touch of Divine Providence, a book will come into the life of a person—one that has an indelible effect upon him or her, their thought processes and even their very character—so much so, that many years later, its reading never leaves you, nor does it diminish with time. Such was the case when C.S. Lewis read “Phantastes,” an 1858 novel by George MacDonald. Lewis later described it hence;
“It must be more than thirty years ago that I bought - almost unwillingly, for I had looked at the volume on that bookstall and rejected it on a dozen previous occasions - the Everyman edition of Phantastes. A few hours later I knew that I had crossed a great frontier.
. . .There was no question of getting through to the kernel and throwing away the shell: no question of a gilded pill. The pill was gold all through.”
MacDonald’s writings influenced several of the greatest fantasy writers of the late 19th & early 20th centuries—Lewis Carroll (Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland), J. M. Barrie (Peter Pan), Mark Twain, L. Frank Baum (Wonderful Wizard of Oz), T.H. White (The Sword and the Stone) and of course J. R. R. Tolkien (Lord of the Rings).
Walter Russell’s “The Secret of Light” was that book for me. His science and philosophy was divinely inspired from his major illumination experience in 1921 (Message of the Divine Iliad). The Secret of Light Series (below), along with “Knowing the Creator 101,” would eventually lead to my becoming President of the Russell’s very own University of Science and Philosophy. I was prepared for this because of my own illumination experience in 2010—one of several to happen to me, which were heavily inspired from reading their many works over a period of years (2008-2015). This experience also led to the creation of my podcast, “The Exploration of Consciousness” (TEC).
Eventually, I would go on to spearhead the moving of 64 tons of art, sculpture, paintings, drawings, engravings, books, and personal effects to a 32,500 sq. ft. building in historic downtown Waynesboro, Virginia—now home to the University of Science and Philosophy and The Russell Museum—my crowning accomplishment and achievement thus far in my life.
I hope you will consider joining me in the next weeks and months for this upcoming multipart read-through of the book that changed my life. I am chronicling my personal reflections on this great work to leave for posterity. May it serve as an account of the transformation of my character from being always affected, to purposefully creating effects of my own via aligning and working knowingly, moment-to-moment with God to manifest my mind’s ideas/desires into form—“with intent.” The Rebirth of the Russell Legacy was in effect, my mission from God, and it was accomplished in a mighty fashion—putting the work of the brilliant Walter and Lao Russell back onto the world stage for all posterity.
There are more missions to come. Enjoy “The Secret of Light Series.”
Sincerely,
Matt Presti
